Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd. launched ‘Bottle for Change’ initiative at Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Prof. (Dr.) Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “Inculcating sustainable values ​​in our students is crucial as they are the future leaders who will shape our world. Panjab University is committed to playing a pivotal role in this environmental movement by ensuring that our campus serves as a model of sustainability.”

Highlights of the event included the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of the materials recovery facility on campus, the launch of the ‘Dream Bank’ of used plastics and the installation of used plastic collection banks at strategic locations across the university to encourage responsible disposal . and recycling. An agreement has also been finalized with Esperanza, the recycling partner for Chandigarh and Punjab, to ensure the collection of used plastic and sending it for recycling. The event further marked the flag-off of a vehicle dedicated to the regular collection of plastic waste within the university and the city. Bisleri International also recognized campus partners like Department of Horticulture, Enactus, NSS and Rotaract for their invaluable support to the ‘Bottles for Change’ initiative.

This landmark event, which marks the culmination of a collaborative effort that began in September 2023, includes the signing today of a memorandum of understanding to develop a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) on campus—a significant step toward sustainability. The event attracted over 300 enthusiastic students who came together to support sustainable practices and recycling efforts on campus.

The University Institute of Applied Management Studies (UIAMS) celebrates cultural harmony on Ethnic Day with the Japanese delegation

University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University, Chandigarh hosted an Ethnic Day event today showcasing cultural diversity and unity among students. The day started with a ‘Brainstorm Bonanza’ organized by the students of the ‘Entrepreneurship and Corporate Relations Cell’ (ECRC). This year’s celebration was made extra special by the presence of a delegation of Japanese students and Prof. Hiromi Kabashima, former Vice President of Yokohama National University, Japan.

The delegation’s visit is part of a student exchange initiative to boost academic and cultural collaboration between the two countries. Prof. Kabashima and five Japanese students from various disciplines such as Business Administration, Engineering, Economics and Chemistry are visiting UIAMS. The Japanese students were treated to a colorful display of Indian culture with performances of nYou, Bhangraand traditional folk song.

Prof. Monika Aggarwal, Director of UIAMS and Prof. Sanjeev K. Sharma, Head of IQAC, Panjab University welcomed the delegation from Japan. They expressed their joy in hosting the event and emphasized the importance of such exchanges in enriching students’ experiences and promoting global understanding. This event marks a significant milestone in the student exchange program between UIAMS and Yokohama National University, strengthening the bond between the two institutions. The week-long exchange program promises further collaboration in academia, research and cultural understanding.
